Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Our sites use them in three ways. You choose the second and third from the notice you see on your first visit, and you can change your choice at any time from the Privacy & cookies section in the Mary chat.
Always on. They keep you signed in, remember your cart and language, protect forms against abuse, and let the Mary chat remember which conversation is open. Without them the sites cannot work. Examples: the sign-in session for your Mary Banks ID, the storefront's cart and session token, the language cookie, and the chat's local conversation cache.
With your consent. Mary keeps a few notes from your conversations and a short summary so she can help you as one person across all of our sites, and we use your learning and reading history to recommend courses, books, paths and sessions. If you decline, Mary still answers your questions but does not keep notes about you, and her recommendations are based only on what you tell her in the moment.
With your consent. Some sites use Vercel Analytics or Google Analytics (the church sites) to count visits and see which pages are used, without identifying you personally, so we can improve them. Error monitoring (Sentry) runs on some sites to catch faults; it records technical details of errors, not what you type.
Because our sites share one sign-in, your choice is saved to your Mary Banks profile the first time you make it while signed in, and every other site honors it. If you are not signed in, browsers keep each site separate, so a site you visit for the first time may ask once more.
You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings; blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop sign-in and purchases from working.
